An interview with the journalist Nuhu Adams, who specializes in African football

 

1- In the beginning, tell us about your upbringing, where you were born, your educational journey

 

• Well, I was born and bred in Ghana. I have lived all my life here and my highest education level is the Polytechnic where I studied Higher National Diploma in Estate Management from the Kumasi Technical University.

 

2- How did your journey in sports media begin?

 

 

I had passion for sports at my young age. I was so much interested in sports reporting and commentary so after I finished my national service in 2013 and was looking for job, I was given the opportunity at a newly established Radio station in 2014 and that’s the beginning of my journey.

Also I was given the opportunity to write for GHANASOCCERNET.COM as a guest writer and here I am today.

 

 

As a sports journalist, what are the conditions that a sports journalist should meet in your opinion?

 

 

Yes of course I have  been following Egyptian Football for so many years now. There is no single day I don’t read what’s going on in Egyptian media about football clubs and others.

 

Who influenced Nuhu Adams in sports media

 

 

I was influenced by my passion for sports and the talent of reporting and commentating on sporting activities or events.

Growing up there were top journalists in Ghana who I was looking up to and Kwabena Yeboah, Carl Tuffour, Moses Foh Amoaning, Ibrahim Sannie Daara and Michael Oti Adjei are top professionals I learned a lot of things from.

 

 

Are you a follower of Egyptian football?

 

 

 

Yes of course I have been following Egyptian Football for so many years now. There is no single day I don’t read what’s going on in Egyptian media about football clubs and others.

 

 

 

Your opinion on the performance of the African teams participating in the African Champions League last version

Do you expect the success of the African Super League?

 

 

Personally I’m not enthused by the idea of the African Super League because I don’t see how feasible it would be and its sustainability taking into consideration the challenges we have on the continent. Travelling in Africa is very herculean and model of the Super League isn’t that one can be proud be of.

If there are available resources to make the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup more lucrative and more appealing that should be the focus.

 

 

From the African team capable of showing a good level in the World Cup Qatar 2022

 

 

Hopefully, I expect all five African countries at this year’s World Cup to make a meaningful impact. At least we can have at least one country getting to the semi-finals stage for the first time in history. Look at the sort of groups the African reps found themselves, I feel Senegal, Morocco and Ghana can be able to make it to the next stage.

 

 

Are there restrictions in sports journalistic work and red lines

 

Once there are ethics in the journalism work, that become our restrictions.

 

 

Nuhu Adams is a sports journalism school whose giving is inexhaustible, according to everyone’s testimony. How do you see that?

 

 

I think it’s a privilege when people refer to me as such but I still see myself far from where I’m supposed to reach and I keep learning to get better everyday, anytime and anywhere the opportunity comes from.

 

Finally, what do you think of the African sports scene?

 

African sports keep developing and growing and as such we must also get aligned to it.
